A painter is a person who creates works of art using paint (oil, acrylic, gouache, aerosol, etc.) for artistic purposes. You don't need to be a professional to define yourself as a painter. You just need to love creating and, most importantly, to express your artistic vision through a medium such as painting. It's the ability to create emotions and convey, through abstract or figurative paintings, one's aesthetic vision or an opinion on a subject.
The choice to be a painter is an imperative for the individual. It's an impulse, a desire; a longing; a passion that isn't rational. Being a painter is not considered serious work by most people nowadays.

Yet it is a profession in its own right, and many artists, with whom we work and others, make their living from the fruit of their art. It is the most beautiful profession in the world, because artists do not perceive their work as a constraint but as personal fulfillment.
At one time, when photography did not exist, painting masters were the only ones capable of creating family portraits. The profession of painter was very respectable. It was highly codified and, above all, had to accurately represent reality. Only artists with excellent painting technique could practice this art.
In our time, the concept of a painter has evolved significantly with the liberation from the representation of reality.

'To create their artworks, the most commonly used techniques are: oil painting, acrylic painting, gouache, or watercolor. The choice of paint is determined by the type of work and the artist's desired outcome. The artist will choose their medium based on the rendering they believe will best achieve the final result they have envisioned.
A painter can choose from several supports on which to express themselves by applying paint. The most common support is linen or cotton canvas on a stretcher, but they can also paint on wood, paper, metal, or any other object.
