Welcome to the artistic movement: ''Street Pop Art''. RICO SAB's paintings can only be understood by observing them through the prism of 20th-century Art History. Indeed, his canvases feature themes characteristic of Pop Art or Free Figuration. From the Pop movement, he retains characters from cinema and comic strips. All these visual codes have circulated in popular culture since the 1950s. Like the artist Erro, RICO SAB confronts this visual culture with Art History, mixing Picasso with Mickey, Betty Boop with Modigliani.

RICO SAB also adopts a style influenced by painting from the second half of the 20th century. Indeed, the importance of drawing is evident in his work, particularly through the use of black lines. He thus appropriates the technique of comic strip or advertising illustrators.

To this, RICO SAB adds very bright and distinct colors, making his paintings shimmering works. Painting after painting, RICO SAB talks about today's society, the influences and images that run through it. The artist becomes the heir of Pop culture, which associates moral values and naive representations. Between superheroes and cartoon mice, the viewer's eye interprets the works based on these references.

The artist then plays on discrepancies, having fun with words, to give us a second level of reading, offering a new interpretation of the visual codes conveyed by the globalized culture of our society.
